I have embarked on a fundraising venture to support The Royal British Legion. I am aiming to raise £10,000 to commemorate this year’s significant centenaries of both the end of the First World War and the RAF.
To do this I intend to display a large poppy, looking out to sea, on 100 of the 108 stone pillars in the Full Fathom Five sculpture at the marina in Portishead; one poppy for each centenary year.
In keeping with the centenary theme, the £10,000 will be raised by sponsorship of each poppy for £100 from businesses, organisations and individuals, and the name of each sponsor displayed at the sculpture over the remembrance period. A roll of honour will also be published in association with local press and online via The Royal British Legion’s Portishead Branch.
This year’s remembrance period is special with the two centenaries and 11 November falling on Remembrance Sunday. My ask to you is therefore to support this significant campaign by sponsoring a poppy and being part of this significant and unique campaign to raise £10,000 for the invaluable work that the Royal British Legion do to support serving and ex-service personnel and their families.
How can your business or organisation support my fundraising venture and sponsor a poppy?
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you further, and can be contacted on 07854 795225 or by emailing [email protected].
Donations for the poppies will be collected through my fundraising page www.justgiving.com/fundraising/portishead100 or by cheque made out 7
If you feel your workplace, organisation or club could sponsor a poppy below is a letter that can be downloaded explaining the project and how to be involved
